Yassi Mazandi

B. 1962 Tehran, Iran

Lives and works in Los Angeles, California

Yassi Mazandi was born in Tehran, Iran, raised in Great Britain and lives and works in Los Angeles. Her work is in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and in other public and major private collections both in the United States and internationally. Mazandi describes nature and her conscious and subconscious reactions to it as the driving forces behind her art.

While Mazandi’s ceramic works are often symmetrical, the delicate paintings on found linens included in Converge 45 are less careful, less measured, instead born of what the artist describes as “a temporary engrossment, perhaps even obsession, with germs and their biological forms.” Mazandi is represented by Grice Bench, Los Angeles.
