Converge 45 is thrilled to be co-hosting a special Strolling Dinner on Saturday, July 30th, activated by four extraordinary Portland chefs, cocktail masters Merit Badge, and an afterparty organized by our friends at S1!

On Saturday, July 30th, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Converge 45 celebrates its inaugural weekend with a special farm-to-table dinner featuring a roster of top Portland chefs.

The strolling dinner will take place in Pacific Northwest College of Art’s stunning Beaux-Arts landmark building restored by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture.

Four of Portland’s nationally praised culinary masters – Peter Cho, Tommy Habetz, Maya Lovelace, and Mika Paredes – will each create three courses inspired by Converge 45’s Artistic Director and Guest Curator Kristy Edmunds’ four chapter curatorial vision for the 2017 season. Merit Badge will create four signature cocktails for the event. The After Party, with an all-star DJ and a no-host bar, will be co-organized by artist-run contemporary art center S1.

Peter Cho (Han Oak)
Raised in Eugene, Oregon, Peter worked for ten years in April Bloomfield’s kitchens, rising to Sous Chef at the Spotted Pig and executive chef at the Breslin in the ACE NY before moving back west and opening Han Oak this past January, a reservation-only restaurant with a seemingly no-holds-barred take on Korean barbecue.

Tommy Habetz (Bunk Sandwiches)
Hailing from the kitchens of Mario Batali and Bobby Flay, in 2008 Tommy Habetz joined forces with Nick Wood to create Bunk Sandwiches. A favorite of Portland locals, Bunk has been praised by The New York Times, Food Network, and Bon Appétit, becoming a must-visit destination for visitors from across the country.

Maya Lovelace (Mae)
Former Sous Chef at Beast, Maya Lovelace now runs the twice-weekly pop-up Mae, which features generous and soulful Southern cooking inspired by her North Carolina grandmother.

Mika Paredes (Girls Club)
Former trailblazing Chef de Cuisine at Beast, Mika Paredes has recently paired up with Tommy Habetz on Girls Club, a pop up with a backyard, DIY vibe. Says Paredes: “I make food like I listen to music: Analog, not digital. Records, not mp3s.”

Merit Badge 
Matt Mount’s Merit Badge creates inventive, thoughtfully crafted drinks and provides top-notch service in hopes of making each event they cater “the best party you’ve ever been to.”

S1
S1 is a nonprofit artist-run center for contemporary art in Portland, Oregon that strives to provide engaging, relevant, and critical visual art, performance and education programming in ways that are accessible to a diverse population of artists and viewers in and outside the city.

Tickets can be purchased as a part of Converge45‘s All-Events Pass or individually for $200, which includes dinner, drinks, and admission to the After Party. Tickets may be purchased separately for the After Party only for a minimum donation of $5, with a suggested donation of $15. Tickets are now available at converge45.org
